Terms and privacy

Plain English, because it should be. If anything here reads as a lawyer’s hedge rather than a description of what actually happens, it is a mistake — tell me and I’ll fix it.

Who runs this#

Unripped is an independent project, built and run by one person in California. It is not a company. Questions, corrections and complaints reach a person, not a queue: [email protected].

Using the site means you accept what’s on this page.

This is not financial advice#

Unripped describes a market. It does not tell you what to buy, hold or sell, and nothing here is investment, financial or tax advice. Sealed trading cards are collectibles: prices fall as well as rise, sometimes sharply, and a product that has gone up for a year can give it all back in a month.

Words like heating up, rising or cooling are descriptions of what a price has already done, on a stated rule. They are not predictions. What you do with your money is yours to decide.

Not affiliated with anyone#

Unripped is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Target, The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures, GAME FREAK, TCGplayer, eBay, Wizards of the Coast, Disney, Konami, Bandai or Riot Games. Product names, set names and images belong to their owners and are used to identify the products being described.

Where the prices come from, and what they are worth#

Market price is TCGplayer’s, read once a day. It is what products actually sold for, not what sellers are asking.
Target’s price is read from Target’s own public listings.
List price comes from a small table of known shelf prices by product type and era. Where there isn’t one on file, the site says so and shows no multiple rather than inventing a number.

All of it can be wrong, late or missing. A price shown here is a reading from a third party, not a quote, not an offer, and not a promise that anyone will buy or sell at it. Check before you spend real money.

Your account and your data#

Most of the site needs no account at all. Signing in with Discord shares your Discord ID, name and avatar — never your email, password, servers or messages.

With an account, what is stored is what you put there: the products on your list, your Portfolio lots (product, quantity, what you paid, the date, any note), sales you record, your notification settings, and the devices you turned notifications on for. That is all.

It is yours. Export your Portfolio at any time from the Portfolio page.
Delete it at any time from your name at the top of the page. The account and everything on it goes.
It is not sold or shared. There is no data sale, no advertising network, and no third-party analytics company.
Who necessarily sees it: Cloudflare, which hosts the site and stores the accounts database, and Discord, which handles signing in. Nobody else.
Counting is daily totals of which buttons get pressed, with nothing that identifies you. No ad trackers, no tracking cookies; the only cookie keeps you signed in.
Notifications are off until you switch them on, and the history of what was sent is trimmed to the last 200 and 90 days.

If the site ever stops running, this page will say so before the data goes, with time to export.

Age#

You need to be 13 or older to sign in, which is also Discord’s own minimum. Under that age, please don’t create an account; nothing on the free pages needs one.

Fair use of the site#

Read it, use it, link to it, share a view of it. What isn’t on: scraping the catalog in bulk, automating requests at a rate a person could not, reselling the data as your own, or reverse-engineering sign-in. If you want the data for something, ask — the answer is often yes.

What you can expect of it#

It is run by one person, and it goes down sometimes, prices go stale sometimes, and features change. There is no uptime promise and no guarantee any part of it keeps working. The site is provided as it is, and Michael isn’t liable for losses arising from using it or from being unable to.

Money#

Everything is free today. There is no paid tier, no card on file and no billing of any kind. If that changes, this page changes first, the price and what it covers will be spelled out here, and it will be announced on What’s new. Nothing you have already put in will be taken away to make room for a paid version.

Changes#

These terms will change as the site does. Material changes get a note on What’s new rather than a silent edit.

Governing law#

California law governs these terms, and the courts of California are where any dispute belongs.
